Italy wins Mitropa Chess Cup 2021

Italian Chess Federation teams dominated the Mitropa Chess Cup 2021 topping both Open and Women’s sections!

Three teams tied for the first place in Open section after 8 played rounds: Italy, Czech Republic and Slovakia. Eventually, Italy and Slovakia scored in the last round to tie for the top. One board point difference decided that gold goes to Italy, while Slovakia came second!

Women’s Italian team was convincing with 17 match points winning the event 3 match points ahead of the second placed Hungary. With score of 13 points, Germany won bronze.
