Turboant X7 Pro folding electric scooter review

REVIEW – Last year I tested and reviewed the Turboant X7 foldable electric scooter, and since then I have been really enjoying using it. I have now received the Turboant X7 Pro which is an upgrade to the original X7 model. Let’s take it for a spin.

What is it?

The Turboant X7 Pro Electric Scooter is designed with a foldable stem that makes the scooter easily portable. It features large 10″ tires to absorb shock from rough terrain and a spacious deck for safety and riding comfort. The built-in 350 W motor can accelerate up to 20 mph, and it has a travel range of up to 30 miles. It weighs 33 lbs.

Design and features

Features

This electric scooter is definitely a large adult size scooter but is foldable for carrying which makes it easy to transport. Just like the original model, it also has a convenient kickstand.
Once assembled, the left side handle includes the braking lever and the bell.
On the right side handle there is the powering lever that includes the power on/off button and the on/off light switch above it.
On the front of the scooter right below the handlebar, there is an LED headlamp.


On top of the steering column, there is an LED display that shows your speed and the level of the battery charge. When the scooter arrives, it has a clear sticker over the LED display with some warning information.

For this upgraded scooter, the battery is on the outside of the steering column of the scooter and it slides into a groove on the column. On the bottom of the battery, there is a charging port and the contacts/plug to connect to the scooter.



The platform is similar to the first model.

The back tire has a disk brake for stopping the bike. The fender above the tire has a grove that locks the shaft/steering column into place when you fold the bike. The fender also serves as the foot brake by pressing down on it. In the practical sense, it is engaged by using your heel.
On the tail end of the fender, there is the rear light that is protected by a red reflector.

Performance

Just like the X7, the X7 Pro arrived almost completely assembled. All I needed to do was to screw in the handles and attach the bell. I then charged the battery overnight, and the next day I was ready to go. It takes about the same 6 hours to charge the battery fully if it is close to empty, but just as I did with the X7, I decided to leave it charging and go to bed.

The red throttle has the lights/power, on/off button. The lights are controlled by pressing the respective button for a few seconds, after turning on the scooter via the power button.

Once you power on the scooter, the LED display turns on and as seen in the next photo, it shows information live speed, battery charge level, temperature, etc.
Riding this scooter is just as much fun as the X7 but it seems to accelerate faster and when the battery is fully charged, it does go faster on a level surface. I also tried it riding over somewhat rough terrain, and it absorbed the bumps quite well. Like the X7, the throttle is very responsive and it allows me to use a soft touch and ride slowly next to someone who is walking. Even with the larger tires, turning is a breeze even when turning in tight circles.  I was able to get up to 18 mph and I do believe that it can go faster. On a steep incline, it slowed to about 5 mph.

I also do like the new battery design that places the batter outside of the main upright. The locking mechanism for the steering column remains the same as the X7. For reference, click here to read my review of the original X7.

What I’d change

• The cost of an additional/replaceable battery
• Still, a redesign to make the height of the handle/steering column adjustable

Final thoughts

After constantly using the Turboant X7 Scooter, I was excited to try this X7 Pro which is the upgraded version. Riding the X7 Pro is even more fun with its increased power and larger tire size that makes it slightly taller. While the upgraded features are not numerous, they do add convenience with the external battery and which has more power and can last longer. While still not what I would conceive as “my” perfect scooter, I am giving this electric scooter a very well done and two thumbs up!!
