Armenian chess grandmaster Levon Aronian was disqualified from the Champions Chess Tour’s Opera Euro Rapid tournament after losing the match to Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.
Aronian lagged behind the French contender after the first day of the tournament (2.5-1.5). On the second day, the sportsmen evened their scores (2:2).
Vachier-Lagrave will face Norways Magnus Carlsen in the next round.
The tournament’s total prize fund is within the range of $100,000.
