Mike Colter Confirms The Defenders' Reunion in Behind-the-Scenes Photo
Mayor Wilson Fisk better watch his back. After rumors (and set leaks) circulated through the social media grapevine for weeks, it seems that all of The Defenders are finally crossing over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe proper. Mike Colter, who starred as Luke Cage in the Marvel series of the same name for two seasons, shared an Instagram photo dump featuring an exciting first slide: a snap of Colter with Finn Jones and Krysten Ritter sitting in a car. Ritter played the titular Jessica Jones in Marvel's three-season Netflix show, while Jones stepped into the role of Danny Rand in Iron Fist, which ran for two seasons. All three joined forces with Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock/Daredevil in 2017's The Defenders series.
Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and The Defenders all originally streamed on Netflix before the MCU dipped its toes into live-action TV. Once Netflix's license for these shows expired, the rights reverted to Disney. They found new life on Disney+.
Cox was the first to reprise his iconic role as Daredevil, appearing in the 2021 blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home before stepping into his own starring vehicle, Daredevil: Born Again, alongside Vincent D'Onofrio, who also returned as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. Ritter surprised fans in May 2025 at Disney's Upfront presentation for Daredevil: Born Again, confirming her return. She will appear in the show's second season, which is airing now on Disney+.
Last week, trades like Varietyreported on Colter and Jones' presence on set during production for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3. Colter's Instagram post cements their return. The actor wrote "Been a while" as his caption with "Marvel" and "Luke Cage" among his hashtags. Jones replied with, "Well, guess the cat's out of the bag."
As of writing, we don't know how The Defenders will contribute to the narrative arc of Born Again Season 3 or when they'll appear in the episode lineup.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 airs new episodes every Tuesday at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET on Disney+ until its finale on May 5.
