Metallica Addresses Fan Anger After Las Vegas Ticket Chaos
Metallica fans went crazy on Feb. 25 when the legendary metal band announced its upcoming residencyLife Burns Faster at the Las Vegas Sphere. They went crazy again — and not in a good way — when they tried to buy tickets.
The group addressed fans' frustrations in an Instagram post on March 10. "At this point in time, we will not be adding additional shows, but we are hoping to offer more in the future," the post read. "In the meantime, we hear you loud and clear that the ticket-buying process was often frustrating and not always smooth. We’re working with our partners to improve this experience and offer some remedies for the next time around."
Originally supposed to be an eight show residency, the Ride the Lightning musicians upped the count to 24. But even that wasn't enough to accommodate the hordes of fans who wanted tickets.
Even fans who anxiously waited for the presale to begin with their finger hovering over the link still came out empty handed. "27K in line ahead of me as a Fifth Member, literally 0 tickets showing as available when I made it in 26 minutes later," one disappointed prospective buyer wrote on Reddit.
"Yeah, I got in pretty quickly and everything was already gone," someone replied. "Had no chance."
"There was a post by somebody that was #530 and there weren’t any," another person wrote. "We got played from the jump off."
Of course, the resale market is booming with Metallica tickets right now. On StubHub, tickets are ranging from $719 all the way up to $2,271 for the "Snake Pit."
"There is literally nothing Metal about $700-$3,000 ticket prices," one fan fumed on X. "Metallica should be better than this. Iron Maiden is still out there doing concerts with tickets as low as $40."
