Nancy Guthrie Update: Savannah Guthrie Returns to 'Today' Show For First Time Since Abduction
Over a month since the TV presenter stepped back from her role on the Today show due to her mother's tragic disappearance, Savannah Guthrie was spotted back on-set on Thursday, March 5.
While the co-host has made no announcement about returning to the show, Guthrie reportedly stopped by the studio to "be with and thank [...] her colleagues", according to Page Six.
Savannah Guthrie Reportedly Plans to Return to The 'Today' Show
While the presenter will likely refrain from a Today return while the search for her mother is still underway, Page Six reports that she's still planning on coming back to her old job once the case is put to rest.
"While she plans to return to the show on air," a spokesperson claimed, "she remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy home."
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her Arizona home on February 1, 2026, and has remained absent since. The Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, ruled that Guthrie had likely been abducted. A few days later, footage emerged of an armed individual breaking into the house and taking Guthrie against her will.
Savannah Guthrie has remained off-air while the investigation continues, suspending her appearances on Today and keeping her life private. Today, TMZ acquired the first photos of Guthrie returning to Today since her mother's abduction.
Co-host Jenna Bush Hager confirmed their reunion on-air, stating: "[Savannah] said that she has the intention to return to the show. Even though it feels like the hardest thing to do, it’s also her home and where she feels so loved.”
According to Page Six, an insider at the show states: "Everyone at Today is taking this day by day, and of course giving Savannah the grace, time and support she needs.”
Guthrie's seat has been covered by co-host Hoda Kotb since her departure from the show, and Page Six once again reports she will continue to do so until Guthrie is prepared to return at her own pace.
