This Critically Acclaimed Brendan Fraser Movie Just Hit Streaming — Here's How to Watch

Brendan Fraser has been on a roll since making his big Hollywood comeback in Darren Aronofsky's The Whale in 2022. The role won him an Academy Award for best actor at the 2023 Oscars.

Just last week, the news broke that both Fraser and Rachel Weisz will return in a fourth installment of The Mummy franchise, set for release in 2028 — 20 years after The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

But in between The Whale and the upcoming Mummy sequel, Fraser shot a film in Japan called Rental Family. In it, Fraser plays a struggling American actor living in Tokyo who lands the role of a lifetime: working for a rental family agency. Clients can rent Fraser's character to play various roles in their lives. Think of him as a seat-filler at the Oscars — but as a date for your aunt's wedding instead.

The movie came out in November 2025 to much critical acclaim. USA Today gave it three and a half stars out of four and even ranked it as one of the top films of the year. On Rotten Tomatoes, Rental Family has an 87% score among critics and a 96% score among audiences. Fraser told Extra the film is "a love letter to Japan."

Fresh off the heels of the latest Mummy news, Fraser's latest flick just became available on streaming.

How to Watch Brendan Fraser in 'Rental Family'

Earlier today, Rental Family became available on Hulu to stream in the United States. It's available with all plans, including the Disney+ bundle and Hulu with live TV.

For those who don't subscribe to Hulu, all is not lost. While Rental Family isn't yet streaming on any other platforms, it is available to buy as a digital download through several storefronts. You can find it on Apple TV, Amazon Prime, and Fandango At Home for $19.99. There doesn't appear to be a rental option yet.
