2026 Subaru Forester Hybrid Gets $2,000 Price Cut, Now Starts Under $36,000

The Subaru Forester Hybrid has always set out to make a value-based argument to interested buyers. With more than 35MPG and an effective range of more than 580 miles on a tank of gas, in addition to a reasonable starting price, it did a pretty good job at that. However, for 2026, the Forester Hybrid sees a price cut, part of a broader price cut for several models at Subaru, the WRX included. Now, prices have fallen by more than $2,000 for the base trim, bringing the SUV's starting price under $36,000.

It's not just Hybrid models benefiting from a price reduction. Subaru says 90% of the lineup is also getting newly adjusted pricing, with MSRP set at just under $30,000 for the 2026 model year. Standard features include Subaru’s EyeSight Advanced Driver Assist suite of aids and features, like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and more. The entry-level hybrid model benefits from similar standard features, too. You can examine the full 2026 Forester pricing lineup below.

Hybrid trims receive a few other discounts for 2026. Sport trims now cost $1,635 less than last year, coming in under $40,000. The top-tier Touring trim is also cheaper, this time by $1,720. It'll cost $42,995 with destination charges. Meanwhile, the mid-range Limited trim sees the biggest price cut, falling by $1,985 to $40,445 including destination.

Other changes include a new Onyx Edition. It was what it sounds like, adding black 19-inch wheels and similarly dark interior trim elements, as well as black upholstery (with brown stitching) and some black interior accents. It's based on the middling Sport trim, and is available with only the car's naturally-aspirated boxer four-cylinder engine, not the hybrid powertrain. Pricing is set at $37,945.

While the Forester's base price rises a touch (by a mere $30), other gas-powered trims have seen a price cut. The Premium trim is down $1360, the Sport is down $1280, the Limited is down $1670, and the Touring is down $1570. The off-road-focused Wilderness model sees an increase of $740 this year.

Similarly, prices for the WRX recently fell, too. The automaker cut prices for its turbocharged sports sedan by $5,000 with the reintroduction of a more basic, entry-level WRX simply called the Base. Pricing for that starts at $32,495 MSRP. The shift in pricing comes at a time when Subaru is keen to outline the effects of tariffs on its business, with the automaker stating previously that it reported severely reduced profit as a result of tariffs. The Forester, however, is built in Indiana and could help make up some ground for the brand now that pricing is a bit more appetizing.
