Viral Rumors Claim Bad Bunny Was Dropped From the Super Bowl Halftime Show: What We Know

If you've been on social media in the run-up to tonight's Super Bowl LX halftime show, you may have come across online speculation that its headline act, Bad Bunny, may not be performing at the big game.

The Puerto Rican rapper was confirmed as the NFL's choice for the 2026 Super Bowl in September last year, and was met with polarized responses. Bad Bunny has taken it in his stride, however, joking in his opening monologue on Saturday Night Live back in October that his haters have four months to learn Spanish.

On sites such as Twitter (now X) and Facebook, however, several viral posts have claimed the NFL has replaced the Latin star with a country artist or another rapper at the last minute. Zach Bryan's performance this weekend at the EA Sports Madden Bowl is also a headline act, replacing Luke Combs, but he's been misconstrued as the NFL's official pick to perform. Bryan also performed on Friday night at the Chase Center in San Francisco, rather than on Super Bowl Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Others, like the X/Twitter post shown below, depicts an AI-generated collection of country stars seemingly banding together at an apparent rehearsal at a stadium. Together, they hold up a sign saying "Say YES if you want us to replace Bad Bunny and perform at the Super Bowl!"

However, as mentioned, this is not a real photo. The idea, however, is somewhat based on real discussions about Super Bowl LX. What actually happened was that another country artist, Jelly Roll, recently pitched a country halftime show spectacular.

“I’d love to see Tim McGraw, I’d love to see Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, some of the country legends," the singer told Entertainment Weekly. Morgan Wallen, Hardy — yeah, that’s my dream. Kenny Chesney, and maybe they let me come out and do a verse or something.”

However, this was just an idea Jelly Roll came up with. He also said in the EW interview, “The Super Bowl could possibly come to Nashville in the next three to five years — we’re getting a new stadium. And I have a dream that they do a country music-themed Halftime Show." He's not suggesting a new headline act for this year or calling for Bad Bunny to be replaced. The musician was talking about future Super Bowls.

Another viral post, this time on Facebook, depicts a very similar setup. It shows rappers Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and Ice Cube (or at least, AI-generated images that are claimed in the description to be them) holding up the same sign as the country stars shown before.

"Announced in an exclusive cultural uprising on Wednesday, February 4th, these titans are storming Super Bowl LX at Levi's Stadium on February 8th," the post claims. "Hijacking the halftime show to demolish Bad Bunny's chaotic "garbage" and replace it with a ruthless barrage of authentic hip-hop fire that'll mend divisions, ignite pride, and reclaim America's beating heart!"

However, the NFL never put out such a claim on February 4th — or since, for that matter. In a post shared on Super Bowl Sunday, Apple Music, alongside the NFL, shared a video of the rapper. "Today’s the day! Which @badbunnypr song are you ready to dance to? ???? #AppleMusicHalftime," the post read, quashing any speculation of a last-minute replacement.
