90’s Alt Rock Band Reunites After 30 Years

0 1

Following the split from punk band Husker Du, singer Bob Mould formed a new band called Sugar, which served as the backdrop for many parties in the 1990s.

Sugar is reuniting in two London and New York shows in May 2026. Tickets sold out immediately. Now, they are embarking on a tour with the original bassist, David Barbe, and drummer Malcolm Travis. They attempted an earlier reunion around the band’s 20th anniversary, but it didn’t feel right, the band recounted to Rolling Stone magazine.

Sugar released a new song last October, “House of Dead Memories,” and announced the two 2026 performances in New York and London, teasing the possibility of more.

The band released its first album, Copper Blue, in 1992, followed by other very well-loved albums, including “The Last Dog and Pony Show” and “Beaster.” Although I’m far from being a lovesick teenager, I stand behind this next statement. One of the best break-up songs on the Copper Blue album, in my humble opinion, is “If I Can’t Change Your Mind.” Fans will likely be singing along to that one and many others.

Mould has kept busy over the years with a solo career and a foray into electronic, a deep departure from heavy guitar riffs and catchy lyrics and now he’s come full circle. Sugar kicks off their tour in the U.K. and brings their music to the U.S. later this year. Presale tickets become available Jan. 27, 2026, on Ticketmaster.
