ITV: George Snook, U21 Male Paddler of the Year

0 0

George Snook has been named Paddler of the Year after a standout season that saw him claim the Extreme Racing World Champion title and push his paddling across disciplines and continents. From podium finishes to remote whitewater missions, his all-around ability, paired with a humble, easygoing personality, stood out throughout the year. We caught up with George to reflect on the season that earned him the title and to hear more about his plans for the year ahead.

KS: Hey George! Congrats on being awarded U21 Male Paddler of the Year. How was the last year for you?

GS: 2025 was a big year for me. It felt full-on but really rewarding. I spent a lot of time balancing competition, exploration, and projects outside of racing, and I feel like things started to click more than ever. I paddled some amazing rivers, learned a lot about myself, and felt grateful for the amazing moments I spent on the water, and also off the water.

KS: You had a great year for sure! Was there one trip or moment that really stands out for you?

GS: The smaller ones for sure! All of the in-between moments were awesome. The smaller floats on the lake, the low-key training sessions, BBQ post paddling, coffee between stouts. Those moments elevate the big moments to become even better.

KS: Yeah, we feel that. Do you think you took a step forward this year, either in your paddling or in the way you approach the river?

GS: Definitely. I feel like my paddling matured a lot this year. I’m more patient, more intentional with my lines, and better at adapting when things don’t go to plan. I’ve also learned to trust my instincts more, especially on harder whitewater.

KS: What was the biggest challenge you had to face this season?

GS: Managing energy and expectations was probably the biggest challenge. With travel, competitions, filming, and projects, it’s easy to burn out. Learning when to push and when to step back was a big lesson for me this year.

KS: What are you most excited about for the year to come?

GS: I’m excited to keep building—both as an athlete and creatively. There are some cool projects on the horizon, new places to paddle, and big goals I’m working toward. I’m feeling motivated and hungry, but also really appreciative of the journey.

KS: Nice one! Well, best of luck for this year. Can’t wait to see what you will be up to!
