Hulu Announced the Cancellation of 4 Shows This Year
Hulu is one of the most popular streaming services in the world, thanks in large part to the success of its vast library of original series. However, this year, the streaming giant decided to cut a few of its shows this year.
In 2025, Hulu announced the cancellation of four different shows, some of which had become beloved by fans.
Extraordinary
Originally released on Jan. 25, 2023, Extraordinary is a British superhero comedy series that revolves around Jen, a young woman living in a world where everyone gains a superpower upon turning 18. Unlike everyone else, however, she remains powerless six years later and has to navigate that challenge.
Although the first season of the show earned strong praise, including a rare 100 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, Hulu canceled the series after its second season.
How to Die Alone
How to Die Alone is a comedy series centered on a woman who, after a brush with death, makes the decision to reinvent her life. Her near-death experience sparks a path of self-discovery and empowerment as she searches for love.
Despite its premise and some positive feedback, the show was ultimately canceled by Hulu after only one season.
Wayne Brady: The Family Remix
Premiering on July 24, 2024, Wayne Brady: The Family Remix is a reality series that offers a look into the personal life of actor and comedian Wayne Brady. The show focuses on what it calls “a divorced couple who successfully co-parent in a blended multiracial family.”
While Brady is obviously a star, the show did not seem to generate enough interest to earn a second season, and Hulu ultimately canceled the series after its first and only season.
Mid-Century Modern
Premiering on March 28, 2025, Mid-Century Modern follows three late middle-aged gay friends who move in together in Palm Springs, California, after an unexpected death, where they support each other through life's challenges.
The series also marked the final television appearance for actress Linda Lavin as she passed away after filming seven episodes of the show.
In September, Max Mutchnick announced on Instagram that Hulu had decided to cancel the series after just one season.
Solar Opposites
Solar Opposites is an animated television show that centers around a family of aliens who crash land on Earth and are forced to stay there after they were sent from their home planet, Planet Shlorp, to colonize new planets shortly before it was destroyed by an asteroid.
Unlike the other shows on this list, Solar Opposites was not canceled. However, it will not be returning for another season as it concluded with a series finale at the end of the sixth season, which occurred back in October.
