'Fallout' Season 2 Rotten Tomatoes Score Turns Heads
The highly anticipated second season of the Amazon Prime Video hit series Fallout has officially debuted, arriving on the streaming platform on Dec. 17. While it's still early in the series, the reviews are already looking historically positive.
Reviews from the first season of the show were overwhelmingly positive from both critics and fans, and season two is receiving even more positive reviews in the days following its debut.
Fallout Season 2 Turns Heads
So far, the second season of Fallout has received a 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes, earning it a "certified fresh" rating. However, this is more than just a strong score, it's actually a historic score.
As Forbes points out, the second season of Fallout has actually set multiple records on Rotten Tomatoes.
For starters, the Rotten Tomatoes score marks the highest-scored second season of any live-action video game TV adaptation ever. Additionally, the combined scores of season 1 and season 2 give Fallout highest scored live-action video game TV adaptation overall, with two 95% scores between critics and audiences. This tops The Last of Us, Twisted Metal, Halo, and Witcher.
"The message here is that video game fans are largely hard to please with adaptations, and Fallout has gotten things very, very right," Forbes wrote of the scores.
More than that, though, the second season of Fallout is actually tied for the highest audience score across any video game adaptation, including animation, matching Cyberpunk Edgerunners, with both having 95% audience scores.
Clearly, fans and critics like what they see from the second season.
What Critics Are Saying
The critical reviews of the second season have been overwhelmingly positive on Rotten Tomatoes.
"Beat by beat and element by element, Fallout remains an absolute blast," wrote Travis Johnson of Blunt Magazine.
"The Fallout apocalypse is, well, fun—maybe even funner in Season 2 than it was the first time around," wrote Rebecca Onion of Slate.
"The wasteland’s freak flag flies in this more deliberately paced second outing, a road-trip packed with so much style and charm, you’ll be throwing down your bottlecaps for more," Hairy Stainer of Empire Magazine wrote.
"Fallout – exploding skulls and all – stands head and shoulders above most video game adaptations," Ed Power of the Daily Telegraph wrote.
"Not only does it boast gut-splittingly funny jokes, but it’s outdone an already strong first season by boldly venturing out to explore some bigger ideas," wrote Chase Hutchinson of the Seattle Times.
Clearly, season 2 has been a hit with both critics and audience members.
