New Report Reveals Final Verdict on Brad Pitt’s Rumored Role in ‘The Batman Part 2'
As fans eagerly await the return of Robert Pattinson to Gotham City, the rumor mill surrounding Matt Reeves' highly anticipated sequel to The Batman has been spinning constantly. Among the most persistent and noteworthy rumblings surrounding the movie has been chatter that Hollywood megastar Brad Pitt had been linked to play a major villain in The Batman Part II. However, after a steady stream of speculation about the casting, which peaked in recent days, the latest definitive report has emerged, seemingly delivering the final verdict on Pitt's involvement in the upcoming DC project.
What the New Report Says About Brad Pitt's 'The Batman Part II' Casting Speculation
If the idea of Pitt stepping into the superhero world as a villain opposite Pattinson, and sharing the "bad guy" spotlight with Colin Farrell's Penguin had your interest, you certainly aren't alone. Although nothing concrete came of the rumors that Pitt would join The Batman Part II, the idea was a fun one. Unfortunately, there's some bad news for those keeping their fingers crossed.
According to a source close to production of The Batman Part II, Pitt is not slated to be part of Reeves' sequel, as The Hollywood Reporter revealed.
"Is Brad Pitt in The Batman Part II? This one has been in the ether for months, and we looked into it. Sadly, sources close to the production say no, Pitt will not be in the movie, which we are told is now aiming to shoot in May," THR wrote.
While the hopes of Pitt portraying one of the many potential villains in The Batman Part II may be dashed, maybe fans can hold out hope that he's in the mix for James Gunn's DCU reboot. However, there's been no speculation or buzz surrounding that, so for now, it appears the A-list celebrity isn't bound for the superhero universe anytime soon.
Latest 'The Batman Part II' News & Casting Updates
Although Pitt isn't expected to be starring in the new Batman film, there's another A-list star who is in the mix to be featured next to Pattinson. As previously reported by Variety, Scarlett Johansson is in negotiations to join the cast of The Batman Part II. While her potential character remains unknown, the news also comes with a report that Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman is not expected to make a return after starring in the original film.
Johansson's potential move to the DC Universe comes at a noteworthy time, as she'll jump from Marvel, where she played Natasha Romanoff, also known as Black Widow, to the DC world.
Very little is known about the cast for The Batman Part II, but here's a look at the current list of names attached, per IMDb.
- Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman
- Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb/Penguin
- Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon
- Andy Serkis as Alfred
Johansson is also listed, but without a specific character at this time.
As previously referenced, filming for The Batman Part II is expected around May of 2026, and the film has an Oct. 1, 2027, release date. For those Marvel fans interested in Johansson's move across the superhero world, this would make her DC Universe debut fall between Avengers: Doomsday (Dec. 18, 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (Dec. 17, 2027).
