Popular Bodybuilder Dead at 39 After Plummeting From Roof
A popular bodybuilder and fitness influencer named Diana Areas is dead at the age of 39, and her cause of death is tragic
That's according to TMZ, which reported that Areas died after visiting the hospital. Brazilian news outlet J3 News also reported on the bodybuilder's death.
- According to J3 News, Areas was a "nutritionist and influencer" who was "found dead in the common area of a building, located on Avenida Manhães Barreto." What was the cause of death? According to The New York Post, she plunged from her apartment roof. It's not clear what caused the fall or whether Areas jumped, however.
- Areas recently received a "tetanus" shot at a local hospital where she was "treated, sutured" and then received a medical discharge, J3 News reported.
- The apartment complex where Areas died is located in Campos, which is a city in Brazil near Rio de Janeiro.
Diana Areas Had 'Cuts' When She Went to the Hospital
The Brazilian news outlet reported that Areas, who had about 200,000 Instagram followers, had cuts on her wrists and neck when she went to the hospital, although it's not clear what caused them.
According to Daily Mail, authorities said Areas left the hospital without authorization. She had competed in several bodybuilding competitions, the site reported.

Fans offered condolences on social media. "Wow, so tragic to hear about Diana Arêas. She was such an inspiration with her fitness journey. My thoughts are with her family and fans. RIP," wrote one person.
A String of Bodybuilders Have Died Young in 2025
There have been a number of bodybuilders who have died young.
In October, Indian bodybuilder Varinder Singh Ghuman died at age 42 "after going into cardiac arrest," People reported.
In November, authorities revealed that fitness influencer Hayley McNeff had died of “acute intoxication due to the combined effects of heroin, fentanyl, 4-ANPP, cocaine and norbuprenorphine,” US Weekly reported.
According to The New York Post, in October, Ricardo Nolasco dos Santos, known in the bodybuilding world as Kadu Santos, "died in Novo Hamburgo in southern Brazil," although the cause of death was not clear. He was only 31 years old and had just proposed to his girlfriend on stage.
In March, NBC News reported that bodybuilder Jodi Vance died "after her heart gave out." In a statement on Instagram, her family wrote, "Her heart stopped due to complications of severe dehydration. Despite all efforts by the hospital, they were unable to revive her."
Lorena Blanco, a Spanish female bodybuilder, died at age 37 of a suspected heart attack in July. She was training for the Ms. Olympia competition in Las Vegas at the time of her death.
In August, a professional bodybuilder named Craig Licker died at the age of 57, although no cause of death was released for him. He won a middleweight title.
A popular food influencer named Michael Duarte was shot by a deputy in Texas in another influencer tragedy.
