Guy Fieri Names Most 'Overrated' Holiday Food
Guy Fieri loves the holidays, but the self-proclaimed "Mayor of Flavortown" is not a fan of one aspect of Christmas meals.
In an Instagram clip released by the Food Network on Sunday, Fieri, on the set of Tournament of Champions: All-Star Christmas, was asked a bunch of rapid-fire questions about the Christmas season. One of them asked the Emmy Award winner what the most overrated holiday food was.
His response might surprise you.
“All the desserts,” Fieri answered. “What is up with that? You know what? Do a great job on your appetizers. Do a fantastic, fantastic job on your dinner and then throw them a bar of chocolate.”
Fieri's other holiday takes
When it comes to hosting, Fieri would rather his guests arrive 15 minutes later than 15 minutes earlier.
"You know, when I’ve got that last 15 minutes, when I’m getting things done, I’m in my work mode," he explained. "I’m getting dinner done. I’m getting things finished out. And I don’t want people coming into the kitchen, picking at stuff and getting in the way and asking a bunch of questions."
Fieri also said "without question, I'm a real tree guy," but has gradually come around on fake Christmas trees, which his family now uses.
"I just miss the smell. I really miss the smell of the tree. And no, you can't hang a car air freshener and get the smell," Fieri said.
Presents are "primarily" opened up on Christmas morning, but the Fieri family does unwrap one gift on Christmas Eve ("Yes, it’s usually pajamas," he said). Lastly, post-Thanksgiving is the right time to start playing Christmas tunes.
Tournament of Champions: All-Star Christmas airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on Food Network. The second episode of the show, which features 32 celebrity chefs pairing up over six installments, ran last night.
