See Johnny Depp’s Telling Response to ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Return Rumors
Could a potential Pirates of the Caribbean movie starring Johnny Depp be on the Black Pearl's horizon?
The embattled actor isn't ruling it out.
On Tuesday, attending the Beverly Hills premiere of his film, Modi: Three Days On The Wing Of Madness, Depp spoke about his upcoming projects and a potential for the resurrection of Captain Jack Sparrow.
Depp starred in five installments of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise before facing legal battles that ultimately derailed his career.
Ahead of his tumultuous libel trial with ex-wife Amber Heard, Disney, who backs the franchise, cut ties with the actor.
"That'd be fun," Depp said of a potential return, thanking the Entertainment Tonight reporter who said she'd love to see him make another Pirates movie.
What Has Been Said About A Pirates 6
This past summer, producer of the films, Jerry Bruckheimer, told Entertainment Weeklythat he had already gauged Depp's interest in returning for a 6th movie.
"If he likes the way the part's written, I think he would do it," he said. "It's all about what's on the page, as we all know."
Depp Is Booked and Busy Despite Controversy
Although Depp only serves as director of Modi (starring Al Pacino), he will be resuming his role of actor, soon. It was recently announced that he'd be playing Ebenezer Scrooge in a new film adaptation of A Christmas Carol. The film will mark his first major Hollywood studio work since the trial.
Depp joked to ET that in preparation to play the celebrated character he just would "despise Christmas." Speaking seriously, the actor spoke of his desire to give "a different angle on Scrooge."
According to his IMDb, Depp is also currently shooting the movie, Day Drinker and slated to star as Satan in The Carnival at the End of Days, which is in development.
