Patch question for a newbie.

Bought a new AIRE 143D that has a cosmetic tear on the inside edge of one of the tubes (ex. Not the outside edge where I would be worried about banging into a rock). Is there any issue with patching it using a D ring patch? It is in a location I could add a D ring to support a standing platform for fishing and am wondering if there would be an issue adding stress to a location with a tear already? Should I just add a regular patch so the tear doesn’t get worse then add a D ring near by? Thanks.
