Pitbull Cruz now holds the interim WBC title at 140 lbs after his one-sided win over Omar Salcido.

Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz picked up the interim WBC super lightweight title with a one-sided win over Omar Salcido on tonight’s Pacquiao vs Barrios undercard in Las Vegas.

Cruz (28-3-1, 18 KO) won the fight on scores of 99-89, 99-89, and 100-88. Bad Left Hook unofficially scored it 100-88 and 100-88, both in favor of Cruz. Cruz was ruled to score a knockdown in the 12th and final round, and Salcido also was penalized a point in that round, which was really long overdue.

Cruz, 27, didn’t have any real trouble in this fight beyond getting Salcido (20-3, 14 KO) to engage as much as he would have liked him to, as it seemed clear that Salcido felt the fight out early and just went into “survival” mode, holding a lot and avoiding action as much as he could against the hard-charging “Pitbull,” whose one-speed approach didn’t do him any favors in getting Salcido to change tactics, either.

It’s the second straight loss for the 25-year-old Salcido, following a wide points defeat to Andy Cruz in January, and a second straight win for Cruz after his WBA title loss to Jose Valenzuela in August 2024.

Salcido was in the fight on extremely short notice, as just yesterday, he replaced the originally scheduled Angel Fierro, who fell ill during his weight cut this week.
