‘He’ll regret what he said’: Sheeraz confident heading into Berlanga fight
Hamzah Sheeraz will be fighting Edgar Berlanga this Saturday and is feeling much better suited for the 168 weight class.
Hamzah Sheeraz spoke with Boxing Social earlier today about how things have been going in camp as he prepares to take on Edgar Berlanga this weekend in Queens, NY. Here’s some of what he had to say below.
Sheeraz on what has been the biggest change in his training camp
“Just the sense of calmness, just the sense of surety in the work that I’m doing — the quality of work I’m doing as well, massively different to what I was doing before. Not that it was wrong but I think I’m a lot more tailored and suited to the work I’m doing now under Andy Lee.”
On having a contrasting personality to Berlanga in the build up, who’s been trash talking him a lot
“It’s not hard for me [to keep my cool] because I don’t emotionally get involved in much to be fair. I’m pretty calm and I know as long as that switch comes on fight night he’ll regret what he said.”
On Berlanga believing he’s on another level to him
“If that’s what will get him fired up or if that’s what going to make him believe he’s got a chance of winning Saturday night, so be it.”
On moving up and making weight for this fight
“The cut is not as intense and in one training session I can be on weight, so it’s very refreshing. I think that’s why I’m so at peace, so chilled, because I know I ain’t got to battle with the scales.”
