‘A real 50/50 fight’: Fury on Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua
Tyson Fury sees Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua as a 50/50 matchup, or at least so he says.
Tyson Fury is planning a 2026 comeback, as he’s aiming for a third fight with Oleksandr Usyk, which Turki Alalshikh says will happen. Surely coincidentally, all of this has come up right as Alalshikh and Riyadh Season are selling an Usyk vs Daniel Dubois pay-per-view for July 19.
Anthony Joshua’s name has also come up a lot recently, both in connection to Fury and possibly finally doing that fight, and because he was kinda-sorta called out by Jake Paul after Paul’s June 28 win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Fury says he has no regrets about never fighting Joshua, commenting, “I don’t regret anything, life’s too short for regrets.”
Asked about Paul calling Joshua out, Fury remarked, “I think it’s a good fight. I think it’s a real 50/50 fight.”
It does have to be said that Fury (34-2-1, 24 KO) has taken plenty of cheeky digs at Joshua (28-4, 25 KO) over the years, largely centered on his belief — or at least stated belief — that AJ doesn’t have much for boxing skills.
Whether Fury really believes Paul vs Joshua would be a “50/50” fight is pretty unimportant. What’s important, given Fury’s history of taunting AJ whenever possible, is that he’s continuing to do it, and there are still plenty of people who believe we will see Fury vs Joshua at some point, simply because it will be a major money-maker, even if it has passed its prime sales days and won’t get back to what it could have been.
Usyk vs Fury 3 is believed to be tentatively set for April 2026 at Wembley Stadium, at least according to Fury.
