Edgar Berlanga and Hamzah Sheeraz will meet in Queens next month in a WBC title eliminator.

Leading into their July 12 title eliminator, Hamzah Sheeraz and Edgar Berlanga sit down for a face to face interview on behalf of DAZN. The two would spent a lot of the segment arguing back and forth about which is overlooking the other and whatnot, but here are some excerpts of what they had to say.

Sheeraz on fighting in Berlanga’s home city

“It’s a new position I’ve been in. I haven’t been in this position before but I feel alive, I got that fire in me.”

Sheeraz on Berlanga calling him a runner

“I don’t think I’m known for running around the ring otherwise I wouldn’t have had as many knockouts as I’ve had.”

Berlanga on his expectations for the fight

“I’m not taking you lightly, I know you’re coming. Why? Because Turki got a plan for you. He told you ‘you beat Berlanga, I’m giving you Canelo.’...you’re underestimating me, bro”

Sheeraz on Berlanga having nervous energy

“I feel like it’s always been him but then I always say ‘empty cans make the most noise.’ I always say it and I stick by that. All the talkers in my career that I’ve fought, you’ve seen what happened. It ignites a fire in me.”

Berlanga on his press conference antics

“You got guys that do sh-t for the cameras and then fight night comes and [they fight bad]. Me, I talk my sh-t because now I know I got to back it up.”
