‘I can rewrite history’: Tszyu looks forward to settling score with Fundora
Tiim Tszyu aims to avenge his loss to Sebastian Fundora on July 19.
Tim Tsyzu gets back in action on the upcoming card between Mario Barrios vs Manny Pacquiao and as he’s set to rematch Sebastian Fundora he talks to Fight Hub about his mentality heading into this fight, and what he thinks of Pacquiao’s chances to beat Barrios. Here’s some excerpts of what Tszyu had to say.
Tszyu on going into a Fundora fight instead of Thurman
“Well, once I came back from the [Spencer] fight I was like ‘I want Fundora’ and I pushed the boys and the boys were like ‘yeah, it could happen.’ I was like ‘alright, let’s get it on.’ So when the opportunity presented I took it with both hands.
“The fact that I can rewrite history and make a legacy in a comeback in a story to be told for years, that’s my goal. To be able to come back from the year that I had and to continue on in a different manner, that’s my goal.”
On if he believes he would’ve beaten Fundora the first time around if not for the elbow that cut him
“To a certain extent, yeah. But I can’t sulk on past and what happened so I sort of have this opportunity to rewrite it again. I know I felt him, I know I had him, I just have to prove it now.
“I think we can create a proper game plan, chop down the tree, you know. He’s got these physical genetics that he’s so tall, so long, that it’s hard for any fighter. So you just have to adapt and make the most of it.”
On how he sees Pacquiao’s chances against Barrios
“I can’t see Manny winning, to be honest with you. I think age is a big factor. Even though he’s my favorite fighter and stuff like that, Mario Barrios is a beast, 30 years young, in the prime, going from a world title. It’s a hard challenge for Manny.”
On whether he’d be surprised to see Pacquiao win
“No, it wouldn’t surprise me. That’s the thing, ‘cause he’s Manny Pacquiao. He’s full of surprises.”
