“Ammo” Williams takes unanimous decision win over Patrice Volny
Austin “Ammo” Williams toughed it out over the distance to beat Patrice Volny.
Austin “Ammo” Williams (18-1, 12 KOs) won a unanimous decision in tonight’s DAZN main event against a game Patrice Volny (19-2, 13 KOs). Volny, whom Chris Mannix likened to Winky Wright, used his high and tight guard to consistently give Ammo a difficult picture with few openings. Ammo would start the fight aggressively with a good output, and he wouldn’t get frustrated by his inability to land a lot of clean shots on Volny.
As the fight wore on Volny would find spots to land his own clean shots that caught Ammo out of position at times, but his relative lack of output wasn’t rewarded by the judges as they turned in cards of 118-110, 116-112, and 115-113, all in favor of Ammo.
Ammo would admit in the post-fight interview that it was a hard fight because Volny didn’t give him a lot to work with, but that he’s aiming to be great and needs hard fights such as these in order to continue progressing.
Ammo gets it!

Edgar Berlanga TKO-1 Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz
Edgar Berlanga (23-1, 18 KOs) got back in the win column tonight, in a fight that even DAZN commentator Chris Mannix admitted was an embarrassing matchup. Despite Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz (20-1-1, 16 KOs) having a nice-looking record, he took this fight on several weeks notice and was not long out of a near 10-year prison stretch, and it was clear from just looking at him that he wasn’t physically prepared for this kind of fight.
Luckily we didn’t have to slog through it for long as Berlanga would flatten Gonzalez with a left hook in the first. Gonzalez would bounce back up but get put down promptly once again, and then put out on his feet where the referee stepped in to officially stop the fight at the 2:31 minute mark.

Omari Jones TKO-2 Alessio Mastronunzio
Omari Jones’ (1-0, 1 KO) professional debut was a brief one, stopping Alessio Mastronunzio (14-6, 4 KOs) early in the second round after he had spent the first round putting a beating on Mastronunzio. The referee has warned Mastronunzio that he needed to show him a bit more after the first round where he had taken a lot of clean punches, and with Jones picking up right where he left off in the second the referee jumped in to stop the fight at the 0:22 minute mark.

Jamaine Ortiz UD-10 Yomar Alamo
Jamaine Ortiz (19-2-1, 9 KOs) cruised in DAZN’s opener, pushing the pace early and fighting in a much more aggressive style than when he last made an appearance. Ortiz would showcase a consistent workrate and a lot of power punches to outwork Yomar Alamo (22-4-1, 13 KOs) pretty clearly over their 10 round fight, taking a unanimous decision on scores of
