Top Rank signs Dominican featherweight prospect Santana
Top Rank has added knockout artist Yan Santana to their roster
Top Rank’s beefy featherweight roster got a little deeper today with the addition of 25-year-old knockout artist Yan Santana, who joined the outfit ahead of a March 29th debut on the Mayer vs Ryan 2 undercard.
Santana (13-0, 12 KO), midway through his fourth year as a professional, made his first trip past the fourth round in a UD over Brandon Valdes on last June’s Lopez vs Claggett undercard. He claimed his biggest scalp five months later by finishing Eduardo Baez; only Emanuel Navarrete had finished him before, but it was also a wonky stoppage, so it evens out.
Santana said, “I am grateful to God and my team for giving me the opportunity to show my talent to the world. I have what it takes to become a world champion. Soon, everyone will know who ‘Dangerous’ Santana is.”
It’s good to see Top Rank still investing in the division after Otabek Kholmatov’s and Luis Alberto Lopez’s defeats; hopefully they’ve got the depth to develop Santana at a solid pace.
