‘I’m capable of doing it’: Davis believes he can score early stoppage of Berinchyk
Keyshawn Davis aims for first round knockout of Denys Berinchyk tonight on ESPN.
Ahead of tonight’s ESPN main event between Denys Berinchyk and Keyshawn Davis there’s been at least some mild tension. Davis’ confidence appears to overshadowing his outrage though and tells Sky Sports he’ll be looking to make it a very early evening for the reigning titleholder, to the point where he’s calling a first round knockout.
“I just feel like I’m capable of doing it and I can do it,” Davis told Sky Sports. “Just what I’m capable of doing. I got a second-round knockout [in his last fight against Gustavo Lemos], why can’t I go for the first round? It’s a different opponent of course, super different style. But I feel like I’m capable of doing it this fight.”
Davis continues by saying he’s going to be looking to impose himself on Berinchyk from the opening bell and send a clear message that he’s unlike Bernichyk’s previous opponents.
Truth be told, Davis doesn’t have the reputation as a massive puncher but he is sharp and has the ability to put his punches together fluidly and with accuracy. If he were to manage a first round KO of Berinchyk it would certainly make for a statement victory as Berinchyk has never been stopped (let alone early in a fight) but that’s just the kind of momentum Davis will be looking for as he aims to take over the lightweight division.
