Lauren Price brutally knocks out Bexcy Mateus to retain title
Lauren Price scored a vicious knockout against Bexcy Mateus in Liverpool.
Lauren Price scored a devastating knockout win over Bexcy Mateus today in Liverpool, retaining her WBA welterweight title with what was officially ruled a third round TKO.
Price (8-0, 2 KO) dominated the fight as expected, and the 30-year-old Welsh southpaw will now hope to face Natasha Jonas in a unification next year. Jonas is facing Ivana Habazin shortly in the main event of the same card.

Referee Steve Gray probably could have been closer to the action and prevented Mateus (7-1, 6 KO) from being so badly wide open while already out on her feet, but Price (8-0, 2 KO) just did her job there, continued fighting.
Here’s an earlier knockdown Price scored, too:

Price has spoken in the lead-up to today’s card about her desire to face Jonas next.
“Whoever wins that fight between her and Ivana, I want next. I believe Jonas gets the win. It’s a massive fight for the British fans, an old school British dust-up,” she said this week.
“I respect Tash, who she is as a person and what she’s done for boxing. Not just women’s boxing, boxing in general. But she’s got titles, I’ve got titles. When I turned (pro), I wanted to move fast. I’ve got dreams and ambitions, I want to become undisputed. I want the biggest fights and that’s it.”
