Rosa vs Valdez title fight set for Dec. 19 in the Dominican Republic
Kenshiro Teraji vacated the title earlier this year before moving to flyweight
One of Kenshiro Teraji’s former light flyweight titles will soon have a new owner, as Erick Rosa will battle Neider Valdez on December 19th in Rosa’s native Dominican Republic.
Those looking to watch can catch it on Shuan Boxing’s YouTube channel.
Rosa (7-0, 2 KO) has fought just twice since warring his way past Vic Saludar in 2021, but that was very much not by design. Multiple attempts to fight Knockout CP Freshmart for the WBA minimumweight titles fell through for one reason or another, including one infamous incident where Rosa’s team arrived in Thailand and immediately got detained by immigration authorities due to alleged visa issues. He ultimately gave up on the bout after a stay-busy win over Orlando Pino last August, instead moving up to 108 and beating Yudel Reyes the following April.
Mexico’s Valdez (14-1-2, 11 KO) doesn’t have a great track record against Ericks, as he suffered his lone pro loss to Erick Badillo this past March. There’s not much else to speak of in his body of work.
Not exactly a big-name fight, but it’s a free title fight on a Thursday featuring a genuine young talent in Rosa. I’m game.
