Caleb Plant says Trevor McCumby is badly mistaken if he thinks he’s fallen victim to complacency.

Caleb Plant sits down for a lengthy interview with Marcos Villegas of Fight Hub TV to talk about a number of topics including his upcoming fight against Trevor McCumby, frequently being involved in altercations at boxing matches, and more. Check out some excerpts of what Plant had to say with the full video interview at the top.

Plant on McCumby questioning his desire

“We’ll find out September 14th, you know, he’s talking about ‘Caleb, he don’t want it, he’s living in silk sheets, living in a big ass house.’ Yeah, I am living in a big ass house, because that’s what happens when you respect the sport. Maybe he’d be in a big ass house too if he respected the sport, if he wasn’t testing positive, if he wouldn’t wait until he was 31, 32 years old to step up and have a big fight. He’s talking about ‘who wants it?’ We’ll find out who wants it.”

Plant on frequently being at the center of confrontations at fights or otherwise

“I don’t know, I’m not playing victim or anything like that but I don’t know what it is. I mean, honestly, I feel like some of it has to do with what I look like. I’ve been dealing with a lot of that my whole life. And again, I don’t like have a victim mentality obviously because if they want to see what it is, we can do that, that’s not an issue for me.

“I’m not looking for trouble but I’ll be damned if somebody’s just going to come up and put their hands on me, grab on my face or push me or try to make a bitch out of me, especially if I’m standing with my wife. Come on, man. That’s not going to work. I’m a grown man, you’re a grown man, so treat me like one. Or if you don’t know what respect is, I’ll show you what it is.”

On the difference in facing Canelo versus facing Benavidez

“They definitely have different styles. I think Canelo, he hits hard harder for one punch, he hits harder than David. But David puts them together quite a bit, better than not just Canelo but most people in boxing. So David can really put his hands together and both have their pros and cons, both have underrated defensive, both are sharp. They’re both great fighters. There’s a difference in styles but they’re both great at what they do.”
