Murata and Yamasaki to face off for WBO Asia Pacific title

0 0
Yesterday it was announced that we’d be getting a new WBO Asia Pacific Super Bantamweight  champion on October 5th as the unbeaten pairing of Subaru Murata (7-0, 7) [村田昴] and Kaito Yamasaki (9-0, 5) [山崎海斗] clash for the belt vacated by TJ Doheny, in what will be the first title bout for both men.

The bout, which will be part of 24th WHO'S NEXT DYNAMIC GLOVE on U-NEXT, is regarded as a really compelling match up between two talented youngsters each being seen as genuine hopes. It is also a bout pitting one of the brightest prospects in West Japan against one of the best in East Japan.

Murata turned professional following an excellent amateur career, in which he went 68-12, and has risen quickly through the ranks with his sharp punching, and ability to fight both offensively and defensively. He has notably been stepping up in recent bouts, with wins against Alex Santisima Jr and Bryan James Wild, but this will be his first bout against a domestic foe. Promoted by Teiken and having fought in the US the future is regarded as a very bright for Murata who will go into the bout as the favourite.

Yamasaki had a shorter amateur career, going 24-15, though has shown what he can do in the pros with good wins against Koshin Takeshima and Toshiyuki Takahashi, who he beat in August. Promoted by Muto Promotions, in Osaka, he will be looking to score a big win for West Japan in what will be his Korakuen Hall debut.

The show hasn’t had the full card announced, but the Murata Vs Yamasaki bout is expected to headline the card at Korakuen Hall, which will also feature a Japanese title eliminator between Hiromasa Urakawa (10-2, 7) [浦川大将] and Yudai Murakami (5-2) [村上雄大].
