Zak Chelli-Callum Simpson, Caroline Dubois-Maira Moneo, Undercard Weigh-In Results From Barnsley, England

Zak Chelli and Callum Simpson were both comfortably inside the 168-pound limit for their regional title fight.

Their scheduled 12-round bout saw Chelli clock in at a trim and fit 166 pounds for the first defense of his British super middleweight title. Simpson was 167 pounds as he gets a home game for Saturday’s main event from Oakwell Football Ground in Barnsley, England.

The show will air live on Sky Sports in the U.K. and NBC’s Peacock TV app in the U.S.

London’s Chelli (15-2-1, 7 knockouts) regained the British title in a twelve-round win over Jack Cullen (22-6-1, 10 KOs) on Jan. 20 in Liverpool. He previously held the belt for more than a year before a points loss to Mark Jeffers (18-0, 5 KOs) last July 1 in Manchester.

Simpson (14-0, 10 KOs) embraces the long-sought step up in competition. The hard-hitting Barnsley native resumed his knockout ways with a 4th round blitzing of Dulla Mbabe on March 31 in London. He’d gone the distance in his previous two outings after a nine-fight knockout streak.

The co-feature pits London’s Caroline Dubois (9-0, 5 KOs) and Uruguay’s Maira Moneo (14-1, 3 KOs) in an interim WBC lightweight title fight.

Dubois was 133.4 pounds while Moneo was 134 pounds.

The winner is technically in line to challenge Ireland’s Katie Taylor (23-1, 6 KOs) The two-division RING champion still holds the WBC and WBA 135-pound titles. However, she will remain at 140 where she next defends her undisputed crown versus Amanda Serrano (47-2-1, 31 KOs) on Nov. 15 in Arlington, Texas.

Moneo is the current WBC mandatory lightweight challenger. However, her effort to enforce her status versus Taylor was not a bout of particular interest to DAZN. Taylor instead opted for the far-more desirable rematch versus Serrano, which likely puts her lightweight reign in jeopardy. She was already forced to vacate the IBF and WBO titles.

Dubois, whose older brother Daniel (21-2, 20 KOs) is the IBF heavyweight titlist, has been on a roll since turning pro. The 2020 Olympic quarterfinalist for Great Britain picked up the lightly regarded IBO title last September and aims to fully unify the lightweight division. She went the ten-round distance in each of her past two starts, including a shutout win over Miranda Reyes on Feb. 3 at OVO Arena Wembley.
