Third title bout added to Phoenix Battle 120! Toyoshima vacates Japanese title

0 3
Back on August 17th Ohashi Gym announced “Lemino Boxing Phoenix Battle 120”, set for August 27th at Korakuen Hall. The card had a pair of title bouts announced for it, when it was announced, and today it was confirmed a third title bout had been added to the show, with the announcement that we would be adding a Japanese Welterweight title bout to the card, which already features a  Japanese Super Featherweight bout between Tsubasa Narai (13-2, 10) [奈良井翼] and Kanta Fukui (12-5-1, 8) [福井貫太], and an OPBF Super Bantamweight bout between Kazuki Nakajima (15-2-1, 12) [中嶋一輝] and Shingo Wake (31-8-2, 22) [和氣慎吾].

The bout announced today will see Aso Ishiwaki (13-7-1, 9) [石脇麻生] battle against David Ssemujju (5-1, 3) [セムジュ デビッド], a Japanese based Ugandan who competed at the Tokyo Olympics, for the vacant title, pitting the #1 and #3 ranked JBC fighters against each other. Given the styles of the two men, this really could be an excellent addition to a card that was already incredibly strong, and looked like being one of the best Japanese domestic cards of the year.

The bout has been made following Ryota Toyoshima (19-3-1, 11) [豊嶋亮太] moving from Welterweight up to 154lbs, with Toyoshima vacating the title yesterday due to the difficulty of making the 147lb weight limit. At the moment it's unclear when Toyoshima will be back in the ring, though we dare say he will make for a great addition to the division domestically.
