Several new champions crowned at Victoriva Vol 14!

0 5
Earlier today Dangan put on their latest Victoriva show, and it was a stacked card with 5 title bouts on it, giving fight fans in Tokyo a genuinely fantastic Friday show.

The show, which will be made available on Boxing Raise in the future, was sadly not made available live, but was a card worthy of some real attention.

The closest of the 5 bouts saw domestic Japanese Bantamweight queen Hinami Yanai (3-2-1, 1) [桺井妃奈実] retain her national title, as she fought to a 6 round majority draw with the unbeaten Nodoka Furukawa (4-0-1). The other Japanese title fight on the card was another hotly contested one, as Japanese Female Flyweight champion Nanae Yamaka (7-1, 2) [山家七恵] narrowly retained her title, and over-came the previously unbeaten Yuki Fuke (4-0, 2) [福家由布希], with Yamaka taking a 6 round majority decision. These two bouts were both incredibly competitive, with almost nothing splitting the fighters in either of the bouts.

In a battle of unbeaten fighters Nao Ugawa (5-0) [鵜川菜央] did just enough to claim the WBO Asia Pacific Atomweight title, overcoming Riho Yoshida (4-1-1) [吉田里穂] via an 8 round split decision. Despite the loss Yoshida will bounce back, and at just 21 the future is bright for her, and both will come out of this feeling comfortable fighting over 8, or even 10 rounds, which is something neither had done before this bout.

The chief support bout on the card saw former amateur stand out Madoka Wada (2-0, 2) [和田まどか] do what was expected of her, as she won the OPBF Female Minimumweight title in just her second bout, by stopping Thai youngster Juthathip Sitthichen (6-2, 4) in the second round. Wada is a special talent, and we wouldn’t be at all surprised by her fighting for a world title by the end of 2024.

In the main event we saw another stoppage, as the hard hitting  Chaoz Minowa (9-4, 7)  [箕輪綾子] scored an opening round win against 41 year old Tomoko Okuda (8-6-2, 2), and claimed the WBO Asia Pacific female Super Flyweight. The early finish here was a real surprise as had only been stopped once, way back in her 2015 debut, and had gone 8 rounds with Minowa last year.
