Tyson Fury admits his goal has never been to become an undisputed world champion but ready for the opportunity.

With the big heavyweight fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk set for this weekend, Fury tells Sky Sports that he’s feeling the energy connected with this event in Saudi Arabia. Both Fury and Usyk will get the rare opportunity to compete for the undisputed heavyweight crown, which is something that hasn’t happened in decades.

“It’s happening, it’s about to happen and here’s the thing, something I’ve never done, something people have been waiting for. You feel like the whole world’s waiting for it,” Fury told Sky Sports.

Despite the momentous occasion for Fury, he admits that he’s already achieved all he could have ever dreamed of in being rich, famous, accomplished, and having a loving family, and that this opportunity isn’t one he ever particularly sought out.

Fury says he only ever wanted to be an undefeated heavyweight world champion and defeat Wladimir Klitschko, both of which he’s done, and after that he never had anything else to prove. Becoming undisputed was never in his thoughts.

“It’s never really been a quest of mine and that’s just being honest. I’ve always said it was other people’s dream. It was Joshua’s dream to be undisputed. It’s no lie, it’s all he ever talked about his whole career, ‘Road to Undisputed…’ It’s never been my dream.”

The opportunity to collect all the belts has now presented itself for Fury, and he says it’s simply a bonus for him that he’ll gladly take even if never intentionally pursued. Fury gets a chance to cash in that bonus on Saturday night against a capable and determined Usyk.
