Anthony Hernandez rates UFC Fight Night 210 performance low, would've liked finish sooner

LAS VEGAS – Anthony Hernandez was a little critical of his performance at UFC Fight Night 210.

Despite scoring a third-round submission of Marc-Andre Barriault (14-6 MMA, 3-5 UFC) this past Saturday at the UFC Apex, Hernandez (10-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) wanted to end the fight faster. Hernandez’s seven prior career finishes all came before Round 3, hence why he didn’t rate his performance too highly.

“Maybe five? I gotta get better still,” Hernandez told reporters, including MMA Junkie. “I’m gonna keep growing. It took until the third to finish him. I would have liked it sooner, but I’ve been working on being patient, so I’m gonna keep doing that. Go back to the drawing board, listen to my coaches, see what I gotta fix and then we’re gonna work on finishing people in the first and the second.”

It was a solid performance from Hernandez, but he didn’t come out unscathed. The 28-year-old says he injured his thumb in the opening five minutes.

“I feel great besides my f*cking thumb,” Hernandez said. “I looked down in the first and my freaking thumb was like completely just straight pointed to the left and my coaches put it back in place thank God and we just kept handling business… they said it could be broken, it could be this, it could be that, but they said we got to X-ray when we get back home and figure it out.”
