MOSSELY TURNS BACK LESCANO IN DUBAI

DUBAI,UAE- The historic first ever female world title match in the Emirates lived up to expectations. Estelle Yoka Mossely (10-0,1KO) of France turned back the spirited challenge of Yanina Del Carmen Lescano (10-1,2KO’s) of Argentina to retain her IBO world lightweight title by split verdict. Mossely, a gold medallist from the 2016 Olympics, used her superior skill level to pile up the points but the determined Lescano managed to keep things interesting with her aggression.
In the end, judges Mike Hayel and Gary Kitanoski had it 96-94 and 97-93 for Mossely while Olena Pobyvailo had it 96-94 for Lescano.
In an fast paced WBC super featherweight eliminator between two southpaws, O’Shaquie Foster (19-2,11KO’s) of the U.S. gave Muhammadkhuja Yaqubov (18-1,10KO’s) of Tajikistan his first career loss. Foster used his mobility and jabs while Yaqubov tried to cut the ring off all night to land hard shots. Foster was eventually forced to stand and trade But in the twelfth and final round, Foster stunned and knocked down Yaqubov, punctuating his impressive performance.

The UAE’s Sultan Al Nuaimi (7-0,4KO’s) won by unanimous decision over Tanzanian Hamza Mchanjo (17-16-3,3KO’s) in a six rounder. Jono Caroll (Ireland) stopped Patrick Ayi Aryee (Ghana) in four rounds, Shabaz Masoud (UK) beat Yoann Boyeux (France) who decided not to continue after rounds, Heavyweight Bakhodir Jalolov (Uzbekistan) stopped Kamil Sokolovski (Poland) in five rounds.Jalolov was a super heavyweight gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympics.
Rohan Date (Ireland) lost a decision to Tom Hill (UK), Josua Ridgewell (UK) stopped Suraj Ram (India) in three rounds, Eryk Arpesyan (Poland) stopped Burak Akkus (Turkey) in the sixth and final round, Ziad Wael Hamza (Egypt) made short work of Karanjeet Singh (India) and won by first round TKO.
