The 35-year old fighter is looking to close-in on a world title opportunity.

With British heavyweight Joe Joyce set to make his next appearance against rugged veteran Carlos Takam this weekend, Joyce is not only looking to extend his unbeaten streak but is also looking to get himself into contention for a world title opportunity. Should Joyce beat Takam he’ll become Anthony Joshua’s next WBO mandatory challenger and for the fight against Takam, Joyce is expecting a tougher test than when he last met Daniel Dubois, who he stopped in ten rounds.

Joyce tells ESPN that he believes Takam has the power and experience to make him a dangerous foe, knowing that Takam has a penchant for making things tough on his opponents. But confident in his own ability to win, Joyce says he’s hoping to either get a shot at one of the division’s top fighter’s who holds some hardware.

“All the belts are there, but they’re stuck,” Joyce said. “You’ve got the rematch clauses and stuff. You just want to get these big fights happening and keep it moving. I would hope I get the winner of whoever [wins out of Joshua-Usyk, or Fury-Wilder].”

But before Joyce can look ahead to bigger and better opportunities, he’ll first have to take care of business here against Takam.
