ShoBox - Henderson vs Steen: Live coverage, 9 pm ET

ShoBox returns tonight at 9 pm ET.

ShoBox is back tonight and throwing itself a 20th anniversary party with a tripleheader from Grand Island, Nebraska, headlined by a 10-round super middleweight bout between Kalvin Henderson and Isaiah Steen.

If the matchup between Henderson (14-0-1, 10 KO) and Steen (15-0, 12 KO) sounds familiar, it’s because the pair were originally scheduled to face each other last October until Henderson got sick with something other than COVID and the fight was cancelled. Our Patrick Stumberg called it “a very well-matched clash between strong amateurs in need of significant professional victories,” and none of those things have changed in the past 9 months.

In the 10-round welterweight co-feature, Janelson Figueroa Bocachica (17-0, 11 KO) will face Shinard Bunch (15-1, 13 KO), in what could be a very exciting meeting of prospects. Bocachica is a ShoBox veteran, appearing on the show in his two most recent fights and delivering impressive and entertaining performances both times. Bocachica blasted Nicklaus Flaz in the first round back in October of 2020, and earned a majority decision over Mark Reyes Jr. back in February.

Bunch is the only fighter on the card with a loss on his record, but that came in just the third fight of his career, a 6 round decision loss to the promising and still undefeated Paul Kroll. Bunch carries good power, and there is absolutely no rust on him- this will be his sixth fight of 2021.

The opener will be an eight-round featherweight bout — as scheduled — between Martino Jules (10-0, 2 KO) and Aram Avagyan (10-0-2, 4 KO). Avagyan made weight if the weight were a class higher, as he came in at 129 for a bout contracted at 126, but it’s going on as scheduled.

John Hansen will be here in the comments section with live coverage and comments for those watching along this evening.
