Anderson Silva says he'd work with the Paul brothers: 'I respect both'

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – After his successful return to boxing, Anderson Silva is open to working with Jake Paul and Logan Paul.

Silva defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. by split decision on the main card of Tribute to the Kings at Jalisco Stadium. The former UFC middleweight champion outpointed Chavez 75-77, 77-75 and 77-75 in an eight-round professional boxing bout.

Silva, 46, was in vintage form, turning back the clock with a sharp performance. It was a feel-good moment for the MMA community and his win even got the respect of the antagonizing Jake Paul, who said he’d be honored to have Silva compete on the same card as him.

Respect to Anderson Silva @spideranderson on the win….vc é uma lenda brasileira! Would be an honor to have him vs Roy Jones Jr on the same card as Tyron and I.”

And Silva echoed the same sentiment.

“Wow – yes, absolutely,” Silva told MMA Junkie. “I respect both. I have a great relationship with both brothers, and yeah, I think this is possible, too. That’s entertaining. It’s a fight, but it’s entertaining. Logan and his brother are amazing guys. The people like to talk a lot about the guys, but they’re very good people. I respect both, and I respect the sport. I think everything’s possible. I think it’s the next fight may be with Logan Paul, maybe.”

Jake Paul will square off in a boxing match with former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley on Aug. 28 on Showtime pay-per-view. Logan Paul is coming off an exhibition boxing match with Floyd Mayweather earlier this month. But as expected, the boxing great proved to be too much for him. Mayweather didn’t get the finish, so due to the rule set, the bout was ruled a no decision.

As for what’s next for Silva, the MMA legend previously said he’d be open to pursuing more boxing bouts in the future. Silva has always expressed interest in boxing Roy Jones Jr., but the fight never materialized when he was under a UFC contract.
