Floyd Mayweather will return to the ring as he and Logan Paul cash big checks for an exhibition.

The Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul exhibition event is fully official, as Showtime announced today that the event will take place on Sunday, June 6, live on pay-per-view from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.

The announcement comes at an obvious and expected time, as there are a lot of eyes on the boxing world this week with Canelo Alvarez returning to action on Saturday.

The 44-year-old Mayweather hasn’t had a real fight, one that counts on his record, since his 2017 win over Conor McGregor, and was last seen in a 2018 exhibition in Japan against kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa.

The 26-year-old Paul — who is not Jake Paul, the guy that just fought Ben Askren, that’s his brother — has had one pro fight, a controversial loss to fellow YouTube star KSI in 2019.

This event is an exhibition, and will not be a fully sanctioned bout. The fact Paul weighs around 190 and Mayweather walks around between 150 and 160 should probably tip you off to that, but people keep struggling with how this works.

The undercard is also official, and it’s what we’ve already seen reported and rumored before:

  • Jean Pascal (35-6-1, 20 KO) will face Badou Jack (23-3-3, 13 KO) in a rematch at light heavyweight, set for 12 rounds with Pascal’s secondary WBA belt on the line. Pascal, 38, and Jack, 37, had a terrific slugfest of a fight back in Dec. 2019, with Pascal winning a split decision. This is a real, actual fight.
  • Former 154 lb titleholder Jarrett Hurd (24-1, 16 KO) will face Luis Arias (18-2-1, 9 KO) in a 10-round fight. The 30-year-old Hurd last fought in Jan. 2020, while Arias, also 30, hasn’t fought since Aug. 2019, and is 0-2-1 in his last three fights. He hasn’t won since 2017. This is a real, actual fight.
  • Former NFL star Chad Johnson (the Bengals wide receiver, yes) will also have an exhibition bout. He’s talked about boxing for over a decade, and now he will, kinda. He’s apparently going to “bring his unique brand of fan-friendly entertainment to the star-studded event.”

This event has already caused Triller to move their planned June 5 pay-per-view featuring Teofimo Lopez vs George Kambosos Jr to a later date, so it’s already had a fantastic impact.
