Bohachuk-Adams, Machado-Tanajara headline Ring City USA cards in March

Bohachuk-Adams is on its third date, with Machado-Tanajara a new announcement.

Ring City USA have announced a pair of March dates for Thursday nights on NBCSN, with Serhii Bohachuk vs Brandon Adams getting yet another new date for Mar. 4, and Alberto Machado facing Hector Tanajara Jr on Mar. 18.

Bohachuk (18-0, 18 KO) and Adams (22-3, 13 KO) were originally supposed to fight in December, but Bohachuk pulled out late, leaving Adams to trounce Sanny Duversonne inside of two rounds.

It was expected immediately that Bohachuk-Adams would be rescheduled, and it was. First it was reported it would be held on Feb. 25, but it’s been pushed back a week now. It’s still a good matchup, as the 31-year-old Adams is no world-beater, but a good step up for the 25-year-old Bohachuk, an exciting prospect who has run over his opponents to date but also hasn’t really fought anyone.

Machado (22-2, 18 KO) is a former 130-pound titlist who hasn’t fought since Dec. 2019, when he moved up to 135 and bashed past Luis Porozo in two rounds, following back-to-back knockout losses at 130 to Andrew Cancio earlier that same year. At 30, Machado is an intriguing potential player at 135, a good puncher but vulnerable, and still in what should be his prime years.

He’s a great opponent for Tanajara (19-0, 5 KO), whose team have been calling for the 24-year-old Texan to be included in the talk with the young lightweights. There are reasons he hasn’t been — he doesn’t have big power, hasn’t gotten the big promotional push, and just isn’t seen as that sort of elite young guy — but this is a chance for him to get a good win and push himself forward.

The Mar. 18 card also appears set to feature a nice middleweight matchup between Christian Mbilli (17-0, 16 KO) and Ievgen Khytrov (20-2, 17 KO), but that wasn’t included as part of the press release.
