JAKE PAUL insists Ben Askren won’t lay a glove on him when they finally share the ring later this year.

The YouTuber will face the former Bellator and ONE Championship welterweight champion in a professional boxing match in April.

Askren – who has never competed in a pro boxing match and is famed for being a grappler – has already had his chances of beating the younger Paul brother written off, although he’s confident of having his hand raised via a seventh-round TKO.

The Olympic wrestler’s prediction has amused Paul, who told ESPN: “Go Google Ben Askren’s striking. Hahaha.

“It’s not going to go that long, it’s not going to go that long.

“I don’t even think he’ll hit me. I haven’t been hit one time in the face in my past two fights.

“So I haven’t even been punched as pro boxer one time. Nate Robinson landed one body shot in a clinch.

“I don’t think Ben Askren will even hit me. That’s my prediction.”

Paul, 23, is 2-0 as a professional boxer having registered stoppage wins over fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib and ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, the latter of whom he brutally knocked out last November.

Askren, 36, hasn’t been in action since losing to Demian Maia at UFC Fight Night 162 in October 2019.

The American retired from mixed martial arts a month later, citing a long-term hip injury as a key reason for hanging up his gloves.

Askren underwent surgery last November and hasn’t completely ruled out a return to the octagon, telling MMA Fighting: “I would say, never say never.

“I think it’s unlikely, but I’m gonna wrestle next year. Not WWE wrestle, but real wrestle. I need a reason to train and stay in shape.

“I love eating ice cream and everything else. I haven’t got on a scale in a year. I haven’t gotten on a scale since I fought Demian Maia over a year ago.

“If I don’t have a good reason to get on the scale, I’m not getting on the scale and I know that ain’t great for my health. I’m not super obese, but I’m definitely not in great shape right now and I can’t really train.

“I can ride a bike right now, that’s about all I can do with my hip but give me a few more months and I’ll be able to start getting on the mat. I’ll be able to start lightly doing some stuff.”
