It seems ‘El Cucuy’ isn’t about to let Dustin Poirier forget that he withdrew from their UFC 254 fight last October.

Following Dustin Poirier’s impressive win against Conor McGregor at UFC 257, Tony Ferguson wanted to make sure ‘The Diamond’ forgotten about “dodging” him.

Both former interim champions, Poirier and Ferguson were targeted to fight at UFC 254 last October. The fight fell through when Poirier withdrew due to failed negotiations with the UFC.

“I just need to be compensated if they want this fight,” Poirier said of the failed matchup with Ferguson. “Simple as that. I’m a prize fighter and the prize needs to be right,”

Ferguson, 36, went on to face Charles Oliveira at UFC 256 losing by unanimous decision, making it his second defeat on the bounce. While Ferguson was seemingly supportive of Poirier’s stance at the time – even Tweeting at Dana White to “pay the man” – following UFC 257, he took to Twitter again, this time to accuse the longtime ATT product of sidestepping him.

Unfortunately for T-Ferg it seems unlikely that these two will meet any time soon, especially with Poirier almost certain to fight for Khabib Nurmagomedov’s vacant lightweight title next. Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler appear to be the current front runners for the Louisiana native, who also suggested he’d but for an instant rematch with Conor McGregor—and even tossed Nate Diaz’s name into the mix. For Ferguson, coming off back-to-back defeats, he’ll likely need a couple wins before the UFC is interested in putting him back in the title conversation.
