It’s a touch of class from McGregor as he makes a large donation to Poirier’s charity ahead of their fight at UFC 257.

It’s been evident in the lead-up to their rematch that Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier have the upmost respect for each other, and that’s reinforced by a hefty donation McGregor is making to Poirier’s charity, ‘The Good Fight’.

McGregor and Poirier will meet in the main event of UFC 257 this Saturday night, a second encounter following their first fight in 2014 that saw McGregor win by first-round TKO.

Alan Geraghty, the CEO of McGregor Sports & Entertainment told MMA Junkie that McGregor will make a $500,000 donation to Poirier’s charity.

“I don’t want to make it seem like we’re up here giving each other back massages but Conor, I just want to clear the air: Conor’s team, McGregor Sport & Entertainment, did reach out to my foundation and they are starting the process toward that donation,” Poirier told reporters at the UFC 257. “So Conor, man-to-man, you’re going to help a lot of people with that.”

The Good Fight Foundation helps underserved communities in Poirier’s home state of Louisiana from food insecurity and environmental disaster relief. You can find out more about the non-profit organisation here.

UFC 257 takes place this Saturday, Jan 23rd, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Also on the card is a lightweight fight between Dan Hooker and UFC debutant Michael Chandler.
