Breazeale predicting knockout win over Wallin

The heavyweights are slated to square off on Mar. 13 on Showtime.

Former U.S. Olympian and two-time world title challenger Dominic Breazeale is set to return to action on Mar. 13 on Showtime, facing Otto Wallin in a heavyweight showdown, with the card expected to feature Adrien Broner’s return in the main event.

Breazeale, who hasn’t fought since he was obliterated in one round by Deontay Wilder in May 2019, likes the matchup against the southpaw Wallin, and predicts he’ll get a knockout:

“It’s definitely going to be a great showdown. I’m a big puncher, from what I’ve been told he’s a durable character, so I’m going to test the waters early and see what’s he got. He’s got a lot of vulnerabilities. ... I can’t guarantee what round, but it’s definitely going to be a knockout, for sure. I’ve got a lot of power in both hands, and in this situation, I get to use my right hand a lot more than I use in the past.”

Wallin (21-1, 14 KO) is 30 and looking to make some moves at heavyweight. He impressed against Tyson Fury in Sept. 2019, and you can still make the very valid argument that any fight that didn’t have a big money, heavily favored A-side like Fury would have been stopped in Wallin’s favor on Fury’s gruesome cut.

But past the Fury fight, there’s really not much on his record to take to heart. Breazeale (20-2, 18 KO) is limited but can thump, and the right hand could be a problem for Wallin — or anyone — if he gets it landing.

It’s a good matchup for both right now, they each need the win to get into or get back into contention, and will probably be the best matchup on that Showtime card, in all likelihood.
