“I’d like to see him fight. I’m not counting on it, but I’d like to see him fight.”

UFC president Dana White has no interest in Nick Diaz returning to the UFC anytime soon, but what about younger brother Nate?

White would like to see Diaz make a UFC comeback in 2021 but admitted that he’s not counting on it.

“I hope (he fights this year),” White said during a recent ESPN+ fan Q&A with Laura Sanko. “I hope so. I’d like to see him fight. I’m not counting on it, but I’d like to see him fight.”

Diaz didn’t fight throughout 2020 but the Stockton local is still keeping active in training, recently dropping a video of him training alongside older brother Nick who, despite White’s objections, is hoping to make a comeback later this year.

Nate hasn’t fought since his BMF title loss to Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 in 2019, which saw The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner bloodied and battered before the fight was eventually stopped by a doctor in the third round. Diaz has fought just four times in the last five years but, despite his inactivity, is still widely considered one of the most popular fighters in the UFC. His last two wins came against Conor McGregor (2016) and Anthony Pettis (2019).
