Usman explains Twitter hacking, denies manager’s involvement

Kamaru Usman spoke about how his Twitter account was hacked during UFC 246.

Kamaru Usman was part of the news headlines during UFC 246 early last month, but for the wrong reasons. After the fight, it was revealed that the UFC welterweight champion’s Twitter account was hacked and had sent vulgar messages towards Conor McGregor’s girlfriend Dee Devlin.

Though instructed by the UFC not to speak about it, McGregor nonetheless did so during the post-fight scrum. Immediately, “The Notorious” pinned the blame on Usman’s manager Ali Abdelaziz.

In a recent episode of the JRE MMA Show where Usman was the guest, Rogan also had the notion that Abdelaziz was somehow involved.

“Is Ali still your manager?” Rogan asked Usman. “Because let me tell you something what I thought. I thought Ali did that and said, ‘Oh, look. You got hacked…’

“Look me in the eyes. You definitely got hacked? Did Ali lie to you?”

Usman went on to explain in detail what happened, including other tweets supposedly sent to other notable personalities.

“I get on my phone, I try to go into my Twitter, and I can’t. I’m locked out,” Usman recalled. “So someone had got in and changed the password and the email. So I can’t even get into my Twitter.

“I get (Ali’s) phone and I go to my page, and the first one, it was wrong on so many levels, was kind of funny if you’re a troll. But he was tweeting Conor. He was like, ‘I’m gonna be rawd—ng or do something with your wife tonight.’ I was like, ‘Whoa, bro. That’s a little much.’

“And then another one comes in,” he continued. “Now he’s going all the way left. At one point, he even said something about Mike Tyson, ‘You’re an N-word,’ like ‘you’re effing N-word.’ This and that. He’s tweeting to a bunch of people.”

Usman said it came to a point where even his personal information was shared for people to possibly exploit.

“Somehow, he got into my bank account,” he said. “Got into my bank account, screenshots it, and puts it out. Now I’m getting messages like, ‘Yo, what is going on?’ And right there, I call my bank, I’m on the phone with my bank. We’re in the car going to the arena to Conor’s fight.

“One tweet, he was like, ‘If I get get over a thousand followers or a thousand comments or retweets on this, I’mma put his pin code out or his internet password.’

“I was so flustered by it all to where I couldn’t do anything but smile,” he added.”

Usman did admit that he does let one another person access his Twitter account, but he still wants some “level of control.” He also assured that his manager was in no way involved, contrary to what some people thought.

“I would never say anything like that,” Usman asserted. “As much as I want to beat him up, if Conor wants to fight, we can fight. But I would never. There’s lines that you don’t cross. I would never disrespect. I would never say anything about someone’s family, someone’s wife. I would never say that.

“And Ali is a guy that’s so into his family, would never say that. I don’t care how much he hates Conor, or how much he doesn’t like him.”

Per UFC president Dana White, Usman is lined up to face Jorge Masvidal next, possibly on International Fight Week in July.
