BOXING legends Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr have called each other out for a mouthwatering trilogy fight decider.

The two former world champions are tied at 1-1, and seem ready to lay it all on the line all over again.

This is despite their respective ages – Hopkins is 54 and Jones Jr is 50.

Back in May 1993 Jones Jr defeated Hopkins on a unanimous points decision. But seven years later Hopkins got his revenge with a victory in the same way.

Jones Jr held world titles in FOUR weight classes, middleweight, super-middleweight, light-heavyweight and heavyweight.

Hopkins has similar legendary status in the sport. He held multiple world titles at middleweight and light-heavyweight.

Jones Jr’s record reads 75 fights, 66 wins and nine losses. Hopkins has had 67 bouts with 55 wins, eight losses and two draws.

RUSSIA OR CHINA TO STAGE IT?

In a video uploaded to social media by Russian boxing chief Umar Kremlev, who wants to promote the bout, Hopkins said: “Roy, I’m in Cancun, but that’s not the point, the point is this.

“We are one and one. You got one and I got one. Let’s break the tie. Anywhere, we can go to Russia, we can go to China, we can go anywhere to fight.

“Let’s do it. Hopefully you get this video and it isn’t lost in the clouds somewhere.”

And in a boost to it actually happening, Jones Jr responded positively.

He said: “It will never get lost in the cloud when it comes to Roy Jones Jr.

“We can do it any time, anywhere, any day.

“You know me, I don’t play, I stay ready. I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to do something like this anyway.

“So let’s get it on.”

These two wouldn’t be the only boxing legends making a comeback to the sport.

Former WBC super-middleweight and WBO middleweight world champion Nigel Benn is coming out of retirement aged 55.

The Dark Destroyer is set to return to the ring for the first time in 23 years when he takes on Sakio Bika in Birmingham.
