Andy Ruiz appears to be transforming body ahead of Joshua rematch
Andy Ruiz evidently was serious when he said he’d be in better condition for his rematch with Anthony Joshua on December 7 in Saudi Arabia.
Check out the images in the Tweet below. The first one reportedly was taken early this year, the second more recently. We’d get a better idea of his transformation if he wasn’t wearing his shirt but it’s clear that he has trimmed down.
Ruiz was 268 pounds — the most he has weighed since 2014 — when he upset Joshua in June. He took the fight on short notice.
“I will arrive in better condition … lighter, faster and more powerful,” Ruiz told ESPN Deportes. “(Joshua and Co.) believe that in December they will win. People will always talk like this, but I have faith that we’re going to win and shut up more mouths.”
Ruiz stunned Joshua and the boxing world by putting the then-champion down four times and stopping him in the seventh round to win three pieces of the heavyweight championship.
