Akhmadaliev’s team wins purse bid, eyes September fight with Roman

0 3

The fight could take place in Los Angeles, Russia, or Uzbekistan

WBA mandatory super bantamweight challenger Murodjon Akhmadaliev’s promoter, World of Boxing, has won the purse bid for their charge’s bout with IBF/WBA “super” champion with a $145,000 offer. They’ve provided a trio of potential dates and locations ahead of the WBA’s mandated September 30th deadline.

The cities proposed by the winner of the auction were Tashkent, Uzbekistan, for September 21st of 2019; St. Petersburg, Russia, September 28th of 2019; and Los Angeles, California, on September 14th of the current year.

According to the regulations of the WBA, the winner of the auction has 20 days from today to send signed contracts with all the details of the fight.

I would like to note that the offers are arranged neither alphabetically nor chronologically in the article’s accompanying picture. This irks me.

L.A. on the 14th is Roman’s (27-2-1, 10 KO) ideal situation, as he hails from the City of Angels, but that would almost certainly mean competing with Canelo Alvarez. Tashkent, meanwhile, has held just one boxing event this year. Whatever the pick, we’ll find out the details in just under three weeks.
